Ernesto Valverde has agreed a new contract with Barcelona until the end of the 2019/20 season, the LaLiga club have announced.The 55-year-old former Barca player took charge at the club in the summer of 2017 and guided them to a LaLiga and Copa del Rey double last season.His existing deal was due to expire at the end of this season, but he will put pen to paper on fresh terms that keep him at Camp Nou until 2020, with the option of a further year.“The signing of the extension will take place on Friday 15 February at 10.15am CET in the Presidential Suite at Camp Nou,” a Barcelona statement read.Valverde’s men won the Supercopa de Espana earlier this season and continue to fight on three other fronts for silverware.Barca currently lead LaLiga by six points and have two Champions League round of 16 ties against Lyon coming up, while their Copa del Rey campaign hangs in the balance at the semi-final stage. Real Madrid held the Catalans to a 1-1 draw at Camp Nou last week, with the return fixture at the Bernabeu to be played at the end of the month.Valverde, who spent two years at Camp Nou during his playing days, managed the likes of Espanyol, Olympiacos, Villarreal, Valencia and Athletic Club before taking the Barcelona job.
