Liverpool news: Taiwo Awoniyi should be given 20-year contract at Royal Excel Mouscron, according to team-mate
Liverpool loanee Taiwo Awoniyi should be offered a 20-year contract by Royal Excel Mouscron, according to current team-mate Mergim Vojvoda.Awoniyi, 21, can’t stop scoring for the Belgian club, with five goals in six games since he arrived for a second spell at Mouscron.Taiwo Awoniyi joined Liverpool in 2015, but has been forced to spend the majority of his career out loan2

The Nigerian has become something of a forgotten man at Anfield who, after joining the Reds for 400,000 in 2015, has failed to secure a work permit in England and resulting in him spending the last four seasons out on loan.It is hoped further experience and international caps will raise his profile enough for a work permit to be granted, but if it was down to Mouscron, he would stay in Belgium. He should stay his entire life here. We have to offer him a 20-year contract,” Vojvoda joked in an interview relayed by L’Avenir.“Hes an excellent player with great qualities. If you ask me, it didnt work with Gent because he was always in the box.Awoniyi has returned to form in Belgium2

“Taiwo is a forward who needs to showcase his power and sometimes come deep to find the ball.Awoniyi returned to haunt his former club Gent during their clash with Mouscron two weeks ago, getting himself a goal and an assist.

He may have signed a new deal after outlasting former manager Jose Mourinho but the forward remains lacking in goal contributions. Just one goal and one assist since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over is hardly appealing. Add to this tough fixtures with Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City on the way and its a no for us for now.

The Premier League will have 65 or more nationalities represented this season. It's far cry from the league's first season in 1992/93 when only 13 non-British or Irish players took part.
