Everton news: Marco Silva delivers damning response to Sam Allardyce’s criticism on talkSPORT
Everton manager Marco Silva has refused to take notice of Sam Allardyce’s criticism of his philosophy, claiming his predecessor does not care about the club.Allardyce, who managed the Toffees between 2017 and 2018 before Silva took charge, recently told talkSPORT his successor must adopt a more pragmatic style in order to deliver results.Marco Silva has responded to Sam Allardyce’s comments on talkSPORT2
Marco Silva has responded to Sam Allardyce’s comments on talkSPORT
He said: You can talk about playing it out from the back and attractive football, but you will never survive, as Ronald Koeman and Roberto Martinez learned. They all played so-called better football than me, but they didnt survive. At the end of the day its all about winning football matches and trying to win them as best you can and as attractively as you can.

MORE: Sam Allardyce sends warning to Marco Silva about his ‘attractive’ brand of football

So if youre going down the attractive football route, its got to be attractive AND get you the results to keep you the job, which is extremely difficult to do.And following Everton’s underwhelming 2-1 victory over Lincoln in the FA Cup third round on Saturday, Silva hit back at the former England boss.He said: I am not here to make comments about him. You have to look at whether these people love Everton, if they want Everton really winning, if they want some stability inside the club?Sam Allardyce was critical of Marco Silva’s philosophy2
Sam Allardyce was critical of Marco Silva’s philosophy
If there are real Everton fans talking like that, then maybe we have to be aware and to look at it, but if some people dont want good results, just instability within our club, they are not worth listening to.“If it is David Moyes, maybe I would listen because he did something really important at this club. If somebody loves our club and they are not happy, OK. I see a person who loves our club and wants us to win. If not, I do not care. In this case, it is not important at all.Recent results have been a concern at Goodison Park and it is difficult to gauge whether there has been any progress since Silva replaced ‘Big Sam’ in the summer.Everton have taken just seven wins from 21 games this season and currently sit eleventh in the table on 27 points the same tally as last season at the same stage.

Marco Silva paid tribute to his players, saying that they showed their desire to come to Leicester and take all three points today, while also praising the "fantastic" travelling fans. The Portuguese oversaw his first victory away from home as Everton manager as goals by Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson secured a 2-1 win at the King Power Stadium.

Betis managed to tie Firpo down to a new long-term deal in the summer and, crucially, those terms included a minimum fee release clause set 43.5million, according to AS.But that high figure has not put off either City or Arsenal, who are both said to be keeping close tabs on the defender’s progress in Spain.Torino are also interested in landing Firpo but it appears as though they are behind the two English clubs in the race to land him. And, should it come down to a battle between Arsenal and City, the Premier League champions might just have the advantage given the player’s agent is Pep Guardiola’s brother, Pere.

Gareth Southgate tells talkSPORT he wants to go one step further at Euro 2020 and warns he is ready to unleash Callum Hudson-Odoi
Gareth Southgate wants England to go one step further at next years European Championships and told talkSPORT he is ready to unleash Callum Hudson-Odoi.In Russia last summer, Southgates exuberant and youthful squad defied critics to make it to the final four of the World Cup.Despite some cynics believing they would not even make it out a group containing Panama and Tunisia, the Three Lions were just 22 minutes away from their first major final since 1966.Southgate calls on England to go one step further at the Euros next summer3

However, defeat to Croatia brought the nation crashing back down to earth after a summer where a nation dared to believe. With the Nations League tournament to look forward to this summer, Southgate told talkSPORTs Ian Abrahams he wants to take his young side further.Firstly, its hugely exciting, Southgate said. Something we talked about at the beginning of this week because our first job is to make sure we are here and that gives us good focus for these qualifying games coming up.In terms of what next summer could be, we were at a semi-final last summer,we are at a semi-final already this summer and we want to continue being consistently successful. The England boss celebrates after the quarter-final win over Sweden in Russia3

And to challenge in the latter stages of those competitions and there is no reason this team cant continue to improve thats got to be our goal, thats got to be the way we work every day.So thats our aim in terms of my own situation.I felt like a lot of things were exorcised last summer for me and frankly, its about the team and its about the country. Its not about what it means individually to me my job is to lead this group, lead the staff, lead the players. The former Middlesbrough boss watches over Hudson-Odoi in training3

And I am enjoying that challenge. While Jadon Sancho has taken Europe by storm at Borussia Dortmund, it has been a completely different story for Callum Hudson-Odoi.The Chelsea winger has spent much of the season on the bench, apposition the 18-year-old is reluctant to stay in.And with Bayern Munich and Dortmund reportedly ready to pounce on any uncertainties he has at Stamford Bridge, Southgate has warned the world he is ready to start an international game. I think he is really exciting, Southgate added. Obviously there has been a lot of focus and attention on Jadon, and rightly so.But Callum, throughout our age groups, has been at a similar level. And he has shown that in training this week. So I would have absolutely no hesitation in starting him in the game. He would be ready, no problem.
