Most improved player at every Premier League club this season, including Tottenham’s Moussa Sissoko
In the Premier League you can go from hero to villain very quickly but, thankfully, you can also go the other way too.Several stars over the years have brought themselves back from the edge and proved their talents in an impressive manner and these improvement should always be celebrated.
13Moussa Sissokp has turned his Tottenham career aroundRight now, Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko is enjoying something of arenaissance at Tottenham.Widely written off as a 30million flop after two less than impressive seasons at the north London club, Sissoko has set about proving fans wrong this term. The French midfielder has been one of Spurs’ standout players in recent weeks and has played a key role in their crucial wins over Chelsea and Inter Milan. But who is the most improved player at every Premier League club this season? Find out below…
Arsenal Alex IwobiLast season, the Nigerian was very much on the fringes and his career at the Emirates looked like it was stalling. Iwobi is now looking confident in his own abilities, something he puts down to new manager Unai Emery. Hopefully for Gunners fans his progression will continue.
13Iwobi in action for the GunnersBournemouth Ryan FraserPreviously the Scotsman had shown flashes of his potential but now with a tactical tweak or two, Eddie Howe is getting his best consistently. He looks a real danger every time he receives the ball and it bears out in the statistics too as he dribbles, shoots, and makes more key passes than in his last two campaigns. Hes got more freedom allowing him to create more and weigh in with goals too.
13Ryan Fraser’s excellent form has been a highlight for the Cherries this campaign.Brighton and Hove Albion Mat RyanThe Australian star has been a superb acquisition since joining in the summer of 2017. Hes shown hes not a flash in the pan too with some more excellent displays this year. Hes also averaging slight more saves during the current campaign.
13Could Brighton goalkeeper Mat Ryan be the man to replace David de Gea at Old Trafford?Burnley Joe HartHe may not have been a Clarets player last year but Hart has definitely improved on his form at Torino and West Ham. The Englishman is looking competent again, despite some recent heavy defeats, in a team which concedes a high volume of shots.
Cardiff City Aron GunnarssonThe Icelandic star has impressed for the Bluebirds in difficult circumstances after a long-term injury. He will be vital for Neil Warnocks men in their bid to avoid relegation and its important they manage his fitness.
13The Cardiff star is coping with top flight demands.Chelsea Antonio RudigerChelsea’s first XI has changed dramatically since the departure of Antonio Conte and arrival of Maurizio Sarri in the summer, most notably in defence. Under Conte last season, the Blues played five at the back, with Antonio Rudiger not quite a fully permanent fixture, however now Sarri starts four defenders with the German having established himself as a prominent figure. One particular goal-line clearance to prevent Liverpool’s Mo Salah from finding the net at Stamford Bridge stands out as his star moment, and it’s clear consistent appearances have helped Rudiger become a centre-back who the league’s top strikers are now wary of.
13Rudiger put Chelsea in front against Manchester UnitedCrystal Palace Aaron Wan-BissakaThe right-back has been sensational for the Eagles this year and its not going to be long before theyre fending off bids from top clubs. Wan-Bissaka is not only a modern full-back in terms of athleticism, hes making a huge number of tackles and interceptions thanks to his reading of the game, while also impressing in duel situations. Hes yet creating as much as the average full-back going forward but still has a lot of time to work on this.
13Aaron Wan-Bissaka has taken his opportunities in the Crystal Palace first team at the start of 2018/19Everton Gylfi SigurdssonHaving already surpassed last years goal tally, Sigurdsson is finally getting his eye in with the Toffees. Hes still not assisting with the regularity he did at Swansea City but he is now getting more shots on goal and key passes away than last season. Having settled in a No.10 role really suits him with Richarlison ahead of him and natural wingers outside him.
13Gylfi Sigurdsson’s is back in form and scoring long range goals.Fulham Aleksandar MitrovicHes gone a little quiet recently but the Serbian striker is certainly looking an improved figure since we last saw him in the Premier League. His current dip is a concern but hopefully he can return to his early season displays after the international break as the Cottagers battle against relegation.
13AleksandarMitrovichas starred so far this season for FulhamHuddersfield Town Philip BillingThe Dane has already made more starts in the Premier League this season than he did in the entirety of last year and hes definitely contributing in tough circumstances. His long throws can be a weapon for the Terriers and while hes also improving his passing, hes making more tackles, interceptions, and shots than before showing his all-round game.
Leicester City Nampalys MendyThe resurgence of the French midfielder has been great to see. His excellent short passing game alongside the sabre rattling Wilfred Ndidi has given the Foxes a more balanced look. The duo work in tandem now to give the likes of James Maddison more freedom.
Liverpool Georginio WijnaldumWith the arrival of Naby Keita and Fabinho, many thought the Dutchman would be on the fringes of the first team but, rather than accept his fate, hes risen to the challenge. Hes arguably playing his best football at Anfield as a No. 6 having played as a No. 10 for Newcastle and as a No. 8 in his early games with Liverpool.
13Wijnaldum battles World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe during Liverpool’s Champions League win over PSGManchester City Bernardo SilvaThe ex-Monaco mans talent was never in doubt but this year its come to the fore in the absence of Kevin De Bruyne. Hes proved just as effective centrally as he has been on the flank and while he isnt racking up goals and assists hes an important figure in their build up play.
Manchester United Anthony MartialThree goals off last years tally of nine Premier League goals already this campaign, the Frenchman has come up big when needed for the Red Devils. Hes clearly got a good relationship on the pitch with Paul Pogba and the two are going to be key for Jose Mourinho if they are going to get into the top six.
13Manchester United star Anthony Martial applauds his fans.Newcastle United Fabian ScharSigned for 3million in the summer, he’s very quickly gone from fringe star to key man. A shocker against Chelsea in August saw him out of the team but now he’s been quality in wins against Watford, Burnley, and Bournemouth.
Southampton Pierre-Emile HojbjergArguably the Saints top performer, the Dane is also displaying passion and leadership as they fight for survival once again. Hes improved his all-round game with more tackles, interceptions, key passes, and shots per game than last season. There have even been some calls for him to become their captain.
Tottenham Hotspur Moussa SissokoIf you had told Spurs fans earlier this season they would all be cheering game-winning performances from the ex-Newcastle United man against Chelsea and Inter Milan at Wembley, they would think you’d had a few too many. But here we are, the midfielder has been crucial for Spurs and bossed both opponents, while also putting in top displays against Crystal Palace an Wolves too. His powerful running continues but his technical game has improved by astonishing amount allowing him to be more expansive than ever before – and long may it continue.
13Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko has been in sensational form.Watford Roberto PereyraPereyra, the Argentina international, has always shown flashes of his talent since joining Watford, but this is the first season he is performing week in, week out. He appears to have finally recovered from a serious injury suffered in his debut Premier League campaign, with his performances last term held back by an unwillingness to give 100 per cent and run the risk of a set-back. He has been Watford’s main attacking force under Javi Gracia, both scoring and assisting goals, and Pereyra’s return to the Argentina set-up is well deserved.
13Argentine ace Pereyra has been in fine form.West Ham United Grady DianganaHe burst into the team following his display in the Hammers 8-0 win over Macclesfield in the Carabao Cup and already doesnt look out of place in the first-team, aged 20. He particularly excelled in the performance against Burnley and looks set for a bright future.
Wolverhampton Wanderers Matt DohertyForget the fact we know hes a bargain on Fantasy Premier League, hes been a key figure for Wolves all campaign. Nuno Espirito Santos side work down the right flank more than any other team so Doherty sees plenty of action at wing-back and despite his defensive duties hes getting in shots and key passes which is pretty impressive after the step up from the Championship.

Chelsea can get rid of manager Maurizio Sarri for £5million - which would be the cheapest pay-off during the Roman Abramovich era. The Italian is dangerously close to the sack following a run of dreadful results, including a convincing 2-0 defeat to Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Monday night which saw the Blues eliminated from the FA Cup.
