Steve Bruce has been appointed Sheffield Wednesday’s new manager, the Championship club have confirmed.Bruce has been in talks with the Owls over the past couple of weeks and he has now put pen to paper on a deal which sees him start work on February 1.

Luhukay was dismissed by Wednesday chiefs four days before Christmas, with the club just six points above the relegation places.Lee Bullen has been in charge on a caretaker basis since Luhukay’s exit, guiding the Owls to two wins and two draws in his four matches in charge; Wednesday now sit 10 points clear of the bottom three. Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence will take charge of the team until Bruce’s arrival at the start of next month, when they will drop down to the coaching staff alongside Bullen, who remains on Wednesday’s books.Bruce has been out of work since October when he was sacked by Aston Villa, only a few months after guiding them to the Championship play-off final where they were defeated by Fulham.1
