Europe’s stars whose contracts expire in 2020, including James Rodriguez, Luka Modric and Jordi Alba
A number of world class players are out of contract in 2020 and could therefore be snapped up for a bargain or their current clubs risk losing them for nothing.Chelsea ace Eden Hazard is one of them and is stalling on a new deal to seal his dream move to Real Madrid.Modric is out of contract in 20206

But after exploring which Premier League stars could movebefore their deal ends, talkSPORT.com has scoured the rest of Europe to see who could make a move on the cheap.

James Rodriguez (Real Madrid)

Rodriguez is currently on loan at Bayern Munich and although he enjoyed a good first season with the German champions, he has struggled for form this term under Niko Kovac. He is set to return to Real Madrid at the end of the campaign but Los Blancos chiefs are reportedly ready to part ways with the Colombian a year before his deal ends in 2020.Real Madrid are reportedly willing to part ways with Rodriguez when he returns at the end of the season6

There has been interest from Arsenal for his signature and the north London outfit have made enquiries about the playmaker over a potential summer deal. Serie A side Napoli have also shown interest.

Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain)

PSG marksman Cavani is another player whose deal expires in 2020.The Uruguay international has made his name as one of the best strikers in the world from his time at Napoli and PSG but is yet to be offered a new deal by the French champions.Cavani has not been offered a new deal by PSG6

Last month, Cavani was linked with a move to Chelseabut the west London club instead opted to sign Gonzalo Higuain. The Blues have the option to sign Higuain permanently but if he fails to impress then Cavani could be a cheap alternative. The 31-year-old is no doubt reaching the tail-end of his career but he is still a prolific goalscorer with 132 goals in 180 appearances for PSG, making him their all-time top scorer.

Luka Modric (Real Madrid)

Ballon d’Or winner Modric is another footballing superstar who could move on for a cut-price fee in the summer.Inter Milan showed strong interest in the Croatian midfielderlast summer and he was tempted by a move – but eventually the Real Madrid hierarchy persuaded him to stay.Ballon D’or winner Modric is yet to agree a new deal with Real Madrid6

He still hasn’t agreed a new deal with the club, but according to Spanish outlet AS, Florentino Perez is now keen to offer him a one or two year extension.Inter, however, are still keen to prise him away from the Bernebeu this summer, according to reports.

Jordi Alba (Barcelona)

Alba and Barcelona have been in talks over a new deal in the last few months but they are reportedlyvery far apart in their negotiations. He performed brilliantly for the Catalan giants last season, featuring in 33 matches and recording two goals and eight assists as his side won the LaLiga title.Alba and Barca appear to be stalling on contract talks6

However, at 29-years-old, Camp Nou chiefs may have an eye for the future and look to move Alba onto another club to maximise profits on the full-back.

Thiago Silva (Paris Saint-Germain)

Veteran centre-back Silva has spent seven years with PSG and made over 150 Ligue 1 appearances for the French side. The Brazilian is still a very capable defender as shown by his monstrous performance against Liverpool in the Champions League earlier this season.Silva says he wants to see out his PSG contract6

However, it is only a matter of time before the 34-year-old loses his legs. He will be almost 36 when his contract ends and he plans to see out his deal in France.Retirement is the most likely path Silva would take but it would be great to see him do a stint in the Premier League.
