Safe standing imminent at a ‘number’ of Premier League stadiums, talkSPORT told
A ‘number’ of Premier League clubs are considering installing safe standing sections in time for next season, talkSPORT has been told.62 per cent of MPs now support standing in the top two divisions, according to a survey.Rail seating could soon be utilised by Premier League clubs2
Rail seating could soon be utilised by Premier League clubs
The increased support has led to speculation a law-change could soon occur, which would overturn the all-seater legislation introduced at the start of the 1994/95 season at the recommendation of the Taylor Report into the Hillsborough disaster.Michael Burnett, the Managing Director of Ferco Seating, said: “There are two aspects to it. Firstly, it produces the right crowd experience and secondly it might even provide additional revenue for the clubs.”Mr Burnett believes the rail seating section installed during the construction of Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium showed there is backing for safe standing. He continued: “Because the seats are still available, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport could say they’re not approving standing at football grounds… they’re just approving putting handrails behind ordinary seats.“It’s a typical politician’s way of nearly admitting that they want to change something.”Wolves installed various safe standing options at Molineux in January, making them the first Premier League club to do so at their current stadium.

They’re not in the relegation zone.”Ferco Seating installed nearly 3,000 rail seats at Celtic Park in 2016.Celtic’s safe standing section has been a huge success2

Manchester United have been told to ditch their recent trend of signing big-name and big-money stars and instead aim to bring the worlds best young players to Old Trafford.Neil Warnock has hailed the clubs interest in 21-year-old Swansea winger Daniel James, and believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should look to make similar signings this summer.Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a tough rebuilding job on his hands at Manchester Unitedgetty2
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a tough rebuilding job on his hands at Manchester United
Bookmakers predict how next seasons Premier League table will lookSolskjaer has been tasked with rediscovering Manchester Uniteds identity, with the club losing the way since the departure of legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson.Fergies history of making shrewd signings has made way for reckless spending since Ed Woodward took control of the clubs coffers, with the majority of Uniteds top signings struggling to justify their price tags.It is rumoured a number of them Paul Pogba, Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku included may leave this summer, and Warnock believes the Red Devils should look to replace them with the stars of the future. The veteran manager also urged Solskjaer to give bigger roles to Marcus Rashford and their other current starlets. Speaking on Wednesdays Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, the Cardiff City boss said: United have got to go the way it looks they might be going, even though thats expensive, and that is to bring in the best young players.Theyve done the other way, theyve spent 300m or 400m on players who are supposed to be world stars, and yet they havent got a team. They havent got a team at all.If they bring the young lads theyre talking about bringing in, they can mould them and I think fans will accept 100 per cent effort from young lads.Rashford would have to play up front because hes just the best there is when hes playing up front.United have been linked with a host of young players this summer, including Leicester duo James Maddison and Harry Maguire, Swansea winger Daniel James, Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Ajax captain Matthijs de LigtGetty Images - Getty2

There are one or two decent players theyre looking at, like the lad from Swansea [Daniel James]. They need to spend 15m or 20m on them to bring these young lads in.Ole and the hierarchy have got to realise that is the way forward for Manchester United, because theyre a long way behind.Asked if United should bite the bullet and get rid of the likes of Pogba, Sanchez and Lukaku this summer, Warnock added: Oh, absolutely.I wouldnt touch them with a barge pole.

Southampton were dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Leicester on Tuesday and a heavy defeat to the Red Devils could cost the Welshman his job.

What the managers are saying

Mark Hughes (Southampton): In this day and age sometimes there are media outlets that find it is in their interest to try and set the agenda, when really it is not backed up by the actual facts and reality of the situation within the club.We have to deal with that. But the truth of the matter is, and I have said this for several weeks, if you gain good results, the pressure goes away to somebody else.Mark Hughes is under increasing pressure at Southampton4

Jose Mourinho (Manchester United):We have a Champions League match in December but it’s a different Champions League match. We can now just focus on the Premier League and we need points. We need to improve our position in the table, we want to close the gap to the top four.We want to be smelling these positions. If not there then behind, but just smelling that for the second part of the season, so we need points. But everybody for different reasons needs points. We are going to have a very difficult match against a team that I know is not going to have any problems.

Team news

Hughes revealed Southampton will be without influential duo Danny Ings (hamstring) and Ryan Bertrand (back) for the visit of Manchester United.Alexis Sanchez has been ruled out for six weeks with a hamstring problem.Victor Lindelof is expected to be sidelined for about a month after suffering a hamstring injury against Palace last weekend.Meanwhile, there is no Chris Smalling in the Manchester United squad and it seems Nemanja Matic will fill in at centre-back alongside Phil Jones.Phil Jones played in Manchester United’s midweek Champions League win over Young Boys4

Jurgen Klopp can still win two trophies this season
With Liverpool still fighting on two fronts, Klopp’s critics who say he has to win something after losing three finals during his reign will only get louder. But Klopp is not concerned.“You can’t imagine how (little) I’m interested in that. I never thought about myself in that (way),” he said at a press conference on Friday.“My job is to do everything I can to help the team that we can be as successful as possible. I’m not searching to be remembered in 50 years or whatever people speak about me.“I am not interested in who judges me. God judges me one day and that is the only thing I am interested in. What other people say about me I couldn’t be less interested.”Klopp has yet to win a trophy with Liverpool3

Klopp insisted his players have not struggled with the pressure of a title race so he does not expect rivals Manchester City to suffer either. The Reds can return to the top with a two-point lead if they beat Fulham on Sunday, leaving Pep Guardiola’s reigning champions to play catch-up as they are involved in the FA Cup against Swansea.Klopp has been at Liverpool since 20153
Klopp has been at Liverpool since 2015
But even with just eight Premier League matches left Klopp does not believe a win at Craven Cottage will exert that much pressure as he has seen first hand how his players have coped.“Psychologically we didn’t struggle because we are not ahead of them any more and it doesn’t change,” he said.“Being ahead of City is not that important but we have a game at the weekend and we want to win that game. “Obviously we are then ahead but it doesn’t mean a lot. The game in hand for City is (Manchester) United, for sure not an easy one, but it is not decided at the weekend because of that.“All the stories will be written but we will accept these stories because it would mean we would have won the game, which is difficult enough and the only thing we think about.”

The Final held at the Olympic Stadium in Munich was expected to be a one-sided affair against a Juve team containing Zinedine Zidane, Christian Vieri and a young Alessandro Del Piero were thought to be too strong for the Germans. But having beaten Manchester United in the previous round, Ottmar Hitzfeld was confident his side could cause another upset on home turf.Despite scoring in the first leg at Old Trafford, Ricken was dropped to the bench for the final because of the midfield threat of Zidane and Didier Deschamps. With Paul Lambert and Paulo Sosa controlling the midfield, the Bundesliga side raced into a two goal lead.Zinedine Zidane (background) was stifled in Munichgetty3
